HEY THERE! I'M LAUREL!

I've had the fortune of photographing hundreds of families in the Gainesville and North Central Florida area for over 14 years. When I'm not photographing fun families, you'll find me traveling to historical locations. Check out our travel blog here.

Before we meet, here are some tidbits about me:

  • I am originally from Annapolis Maryland where I grew up in a household of professional musicians – both my parents were in the Naval Academy Band for 20 plus years!

  • Much to the surprise of my parents – I became a professional Disc Jockey at 18 and did that for 10 years – you know – when they actually had things called vinyl records!

  • I’m a huge U2 FAN! In fact, So much so I moved to Dublin!

  • I have three kiddos (Madison 27, Rowan 25, and Aidan 20 - currently enrolled at the University of Florida)

  • I started my photography journey while living in England and Ireland – the landscape is so spectacular. When I started having children – I thought they were pretty spectacular too!

  • I’m hooked on Netflix and enjoy binge watching. I'm currently watching Derry Girls, The Great British Bakeoff, and reruns of The West Wing

  • I also create Fine Art Prints from my travels as well as funky coasters inspired by my Instagram feed. You can find me at local Art Markets as well as the Mosswood Cafe in Micanopy.

  • I love history and travel often to early American historical locations. I started a travel blog with my son, Aidan, called The Trail of the Lonesome Pine. Check it out here.

Some of my proudest  accomplishments:

  • I was the official photographer for the Buchholz High School Golden Regiment and Music Program.

  • My photography has been featured in Local and National magazines including: Hallowed Ground, Cape Cod, Trend & Tradition, & Giggle Magazine

  • I’ve studied with Award Winning Photographers, including Scott Kelby, Joe McNalley, and Nichole Van

  • I was a frequent host on the popular Digital Photography Show podcast

  • I was the lead photographer for Giggle Magazine – where my commercial work was seen frequently on the front cover!

  • I volunteer my time and I’ve donated artwork to local charities including Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, The Children’s Home Society Heart Gallery, The Sebastian Fererro Foundation, and Little Bits of Honey

  • My memberships include PPA (Professional Photographers of America)

  • I use all professional Nikon equipment

  • Laurel Housden Photography, LLC is a Limited Liability Company and is licensed and insured.
