Lucas is very special to me – as I was there from the very beginning of his life! I was honored to photograph his birth and now I get to see him every few months to capture his milestones. Here is one of my favorites from his recent 9 month session in the wildflower field!

I was so happy to see Elliott again for his 6 month baby session because I also photographed his newborn session! He has grown into such a beautiful little boy – I just love his smile and his ever so adorable outfit that mom put him in. Adorable with a capitol “A”.

These have got to be the most bluest eyes I’ve ever seen – I think even bluer than one of my favorite actors – Mr. Paul Newman! This adorable little guy is signed up for my First Year Baby Steps Plan and this is his 3 month session. I had bunches of fun hangin out with him and his beautiful Mama at my residential studio. The vast majority of the newborn sessions that I photograph are done at my residential studio in Haile Plantation but every so often I get asked to photograph a newborn session at the client’s home. Such is the case with the newborn session of this beautiful newborn baby girl. Caterina is the third baby for this lovely Italian family. She has two big sisters who have been waiting eagerly to meet her. You might remember them from the maternity session we did in April – you can check it out here. Having the newborn session at your home is perfect for when you want to capture more lifestyle portraits of the entire family interacting with the newest arrival. This session is the perfect example of the relaxed and natural poses captured at home. Because there are just so many beautiful images to share from this session, I am splitting this blog post into two parts. Enjoy!

A Complete Meltdown: Amadine, Jason, & Aidan’s Family Session | gainesville family photographer

This morning I met with Amadine and Jason with their one year old little guy, Aidan at the Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. We met up at 9 am thinking that it would not have gotten a chance to heat up. Boy were we wrong! By the time I got from my car to the entrance to the gardens I was soaked!! We all get a bit of a soaking but we had a great time. We ended up taking Aidan’s clothes off and sitting him in a fountain to cool off. That was a great idea..because those are some of the cutest pictures of the bunch. A special thank you to my assistant/daugher Rowan for always making those babies smile! She is some kind of wonderful. By the way if you are interested in a babysitter this summer, Rowan just received her Red Cross Babysitting Certification and Infant/Child CPR Certification. Three’s a charm: Giggle Magazine May/June Cover – gainesville newborn photographer

I’m so excited to finally share the news that I photographed the cover of the May/June edition of Giggle Magazine. I’m just so honored and happy beyond belief. When I went professional two years ago, I never would have thought that I would have achieved so much in such a little time – and having photographed not one but THREE covers for my favorite family magazine makes it all worth it! Thank you to the staff of Giggle Magazine for believing in me.

Meet Ms. Ella – the newborn on the cover. I actually photographed Ella last summer at her home. I just love her so much – not only because she’s just simply adorable – but reminds me so much of my own daughter Rowan. Both Rowan and Ella were almost 10 pound newborns – and they kinda look simlar. Ella has those gorgeous lashes and that grin that just goes ear to ear.

Ella came and modeled a few of my new tutu’s for me when she was about 8 months old. She still looks the same – those adorable eyes!

Sadly, Ella and her family recently moved back to Chicago where they are from. I am going to miss her very much but her mother has promised to keep me updated and she knows that whenever she comes back to Gainesville for a visit – that there will always be time to update her photo book! But, right before she moved we took her 1 year portraits. Yup, that’s the infamous “Smash the Cake” session – I’ve been waiting for a month to share theses images from that session. Her mom hasn’t even seen them yet.

Tomorrow I will be spotlighting the other families featured in the magazine that I photographed along with the details to my very first super cool Scavenger Hunt based on the information in the current issue of Giggle Magazine. I never planned to become a mother when I did . My first child was born just 11 months after meeting my husband – you know what I mean. I became a wife and a mother all at the same time with no time to prepare or even fathom the idea of motherhood. Now 15 years later – with three beautiful children and a wonderful husband – I’m still preparing and wondering if I’m a good mother. I have yet to find that book from Borders with instructions on motherhood – let me know when you find it. What I have learned – and finally get from my own mother is – you do the best that you can do – with what you have. All children want from their mothers is……love, acceptance, and respect. You provide that to your child - no matter what your income level is or your social level is….you’ve done more than enough! I can finally look back at my own childhood years through the eyes of my own mother – and know that she did an amazing job raising me and my brother and sister – working full-time, always being there for special events, providing comfort and love. And for that I say…thank you, I love you, you did your best, and now passing it down to me. Happy Mother’s Day – especially those that are just now starting their journey into Motherhood!

Introducing Baby “C” – gainesville florida newborn photographer

Introducing 5 day old newborn baby girl “C”. This precious baby was super easy to photograph as she slept for almost the entire session. It is important to capture these curled newborn poses before the baby turns 2 weeks old – ideally between 5-7 days. Mom and Dad were open to trying some new poses and I was able to capture some tender moments between this baby and her daddy. Thank you so much for allowing me to photograph these first images of your precious baby girl. I so enjoyed our session together and I look forward to watching “C” grow up!
