Stars for Sendai was created by 12 year old Gainesville philanthropist, Delaney Rua to benefit the victims of the Tsunami and Earthquake that hit Japan in March 2011. There is a wonderful article featured in the Jun/Jul 2011 of Giggle Magazine that is out now. The editorial in the magazine is photographed by Lifeprints Photography. . I photographed the actual benefit which was held at the Haile Plantation Farmer’s Market in May. I took Aidan with me and we got to meet Delaney and her wonderful family. She is talented beyond words – it’s hard to believe that she is just 12 years old! What an inspiration.

Disney’s Mulan the Musical – gainesville florida theatre photographer

I’m super proud of my eldest daughter Madison who is currently in her high school production of Disney’s Mulan. She has worked so hard for the past several months keeping up with her regular IB program school schedule and the rigors of after school rehearsals. She’s up at 6 am and out the door at 7 a.m. and finally home after 10 p.m.! We went to see the production on Wednesday and was totally blown away by the cast and the incredible costumes and stage decorations. The last showing is this evening at 7 p.m. at Eastside High School. I highly recommend it – and it really is for ALL ages! I captured some pictures from this week but it really does not do the play justice – you have to see it with your own eyes!

Rockin Birthday Party – gainesville florida children photographer

I had a rockin’ great time photographing this adorable guy’s 5 year birthday party last Sunday. It was a rock star theme complete with all the trimmings including real guitars, black and white musical note cupcakes that sat on top of a matching drum kit, a bounce house, face paining, and the best friends ever! It was the perfect afternoon. I met so many great little kids and enjoyed watching them all play. Here are a few pictures from the party. You ROCK little one!

The theme was Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the room was decorated to the nines!!! I’ve never seen such elaborate centerpieces and the cake was just fantastic. You should have seen the candy bar set up for everyone to enjoy! Thank you Emily and beautiful Mama Jamie for inviting me to capture such a special event – Emily’s Quinceanera. It was such a thrill to see it all come together after hearing about it for so long. It was magnificent!!!

For the second year in a row – Last Friday night I had the distinct honor of being the Event Photographer for the Little Bits of Honey Angels Dinner. It’s a rare opportunity to socialize with both U.F. coaches. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them together other than this event. Little Bits of Honey was established by Jessica and Eddie Jacobs in honor of their son Lazarus – who died of SIDS. The foundation was set-up to assist in funeral costs to families that have lost a child. More information can be found at Little Bits of Honey.

Blue Highway Grand Opening – Gainesville Florida Event Photographer

Tonight is the Grand Opening of Blue Highway Pizza located in the Tioga Town Center in Gainesville Florida. You may know of Blue Highway from their first location in Micanopy, Florida. They are known for their fresh pizzas, cal zones, salads, and more. It is always a treat to eat at Blue Highway and I’m so happy that they are finally opening up a second location only 10 minutes from my house! I was at the Family Opening Night last Thursday and took these images from the evening. It was a packed house but oh was it sooooooo yummy! I highly recommend Blue Highway Pizza for their fresh food and kid friendly (and colorful) atmosphere! No in the Tioga Town Center!

YMCA 1st Annual Ride N’ Tie – Gainesville Florida Event Photographer

I had the honor of documenting the 1st annual YMCA Ride N’ Tie Two People, One Bike Race on June 13th. The event was held at the new S.W. YMCA fields located off of Archer Road. I’ve never seen this type of rely before and the director Rick Anderson explained that it’s never been done in Gainesville! Here’s a bit about it” “Indians knew that the fastest way to travel was for one person to take off on horse while the other person started running. Afer a short a short distance, the rider would tie up the horse…and take off running. The first runner would mount up the horse, pass the partner, drop the horse and take off again”. So the race is done with bikes instead of horses.

Gainesville Youth Chorus – Gainesville, Fl Event Photographer

Last week I photographed the dress rehearsal for the Gainesville Youth Chorus annual Sweet Taste of Broadway Concert. It is an amazing concert showcasing all of the talents of these fabulous children. I saw it a couple of years ago and was blown away by everything from the dazzling costumes to the details in the decorations. Unfortunately, I have a photography event that I am shooting, so I won’t be able to catch the show this year. But you can! Here is the link to the Gainesville Youth Chorus with all the details.
