Photography Tip - Dave Cross Textures

I have been experimenting with textures for some time and only recently have really started to use them more in some of my portrait work to create a dramatic effect. I use Dave Cross’s Textures. Dave is one of the presenters on Photoshop TV and is also the curriculum director for the National Association of Photoshop Users. A few months back Dave shared on his blog about how members of his barbershop quartet were trying to come up with creative ideas to raise funds for tshirts. His idea was to sell his textures. For $20 I could not pass it up and if they were not any good - at least I helped a worthy cause. I have to say I was very impressed with the package. Here is a little review I posted on his blog about them.

…….”Wow!! I finally got a chance to check out the cd of textures I purchased from you and I have to say I was blown away with not only the variety of high quality textures but the movie that you included on how to use them. I have been tinkering around with textures for a little bit - but after watching your movie you have given me a whole new perspective on how to use them. The movie alone was worth the price of your CD but then all of the textures that you included makes this the best investment I’ve made this year. I would have gladly paid triple the amount and still think I got a great deal. Oh yeah…and the pdf you included with thumbnails of the textures is just the cherry on top. Let me know of any other products you will be selling to help your quartet - I will gladly support it - no problem. ”

You can check out Dave’s Textures and order them here. Tell him that Laurel sent ya!

Here is a couple pictures using the textures. This is one from yesterdays post.

Here is a before and after. I like both pictures..but the texture really adds a bit of drama!
