Shooting with Aaron - Chinese New Year

I had the honor of second shooting with my very best friend and mentor Aaron Bailey at a Chinese New Year Event here in Gainesville. It is the second time I have helped out Aaron with this same event. Last year Aaron set up a portrait area to take pictures of families under controlled lighting. I helped Aaron out by helping to move the line! This year he was hired to shoot throughout the event capturing families, candids, and dancing. The group is a local network of families that have adopted children from China.  The little girls range from infants on up and they are so beautiful. Lots of color, smiles, and fun! This time I got to actually shoot along side with Aaron with my  D300 and the Gary Fong diffuser that Aaron got me as a Christmas gift.  I still get so nervous when I shoot. I don’t know how many people feel this, but as soon as I got the camera in hand I feel like it’s a race to get the shot before it’s gone. I often feel “under the gun” even though no one is pressuring me to rush. I just always feel rushed. By the way, this was one of those rooms that photographers hate, check out the ceiling - it was draped with black sheets and red curtains. It totally absorbed all the light. It was tricky, but a great learning environment.
