The meatloaf accident

I had planned a special Valentines Day dinner for my family. My mom gave me a fantastic meatloaf recipe that I prepared. Just the fact that a was “cooking” and not “reheating” was enough of a gift to my family. Like a dummy, I handled the glass serving dish (just out of the oven) with 2 pounds of mealoaf without glove mitts and halfway to the table, I dropped it. It shattered in a million bits all over the floor. We all just paused for what seemed like hours until my eldest daughter Madison said, “Are you all right?”. Wow, my 12 year old was  more concerned about how I was and not the fact that her gourmet dinner was just a pile on the floor. What I learned from this is that the next time any of my kids make a mistake, drop something, break something, forget something because of an honest accident,  I will remember how I felt at this moment and that all I needed to make me feel better was just a little support from the people that mean the most from me, my family. Oh, and wear glove mitts when handling hot glass dishes!

Sorry to hear about your mishap with the meatloaf dinner. Great job on your description…I loved how you put it when one of kids drops something and it breaks that you will think about your mishap with the meatloaf.

Yuck - that looks messy to clean up. But I really like the first picture.
