Give Kids the World and Universal Studios

Give Kids the World is a private resort in Orlando Florida that is exclusive to children with life threatening illness and their families. Children from all over the world get a once in a lifetime opportunity to stay for FREE at this whimsical village with full access to (no standing in line) to all of the local theme parks including Disney, Universal, and Seaworld. It is a chance to leave their troubles and cancer behind and be a “normal” kid. I had the pleasure and honor of going with my two daughters, Rowan and Madison, along with our youth group to volunteer for the evening last Saturday.

Children stay with their families in 2 bedroom villas. The buildings are all so whimsical and colorful. There is everything here including a movie theatre, a magic castle, ice-cream house, a carousel, pool, and so much more. When we arrived a volunteer coordinator gave our group a tour of the grounds and let us know what we would be doing to help.

Unfortunately, it poured the Saturday night we were there! A cold front was coming through and it dropped 30 degrees between Saturday night and Sunday Morning. Here are some pictures of some of the buildings on the grounds.

The next morning we headed over to Universal Studios. It was so cold! Maybe a high of 57 degrees. For us Floridians…that’s cold! Espeically since the day before it reached record highs for that day at 80 degrees. Here are some pictures from our day at Universal.

I love New York! Universal Studios has a great New York City set. Here is Rowan in front of a row house. I love the brick streets!

Here is what Floridans look like in 57 degree weather!
