Above is a picture I took last weekend at The Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. It was taken in the hustle and bustle of leaving the park with 1 husband and 3 children…we all made it!
Here are some fantastic links I have collected that show you how to take the best Christmas and Holiday Pictures.
- Photojojo is one of my favorite places to visit all year round - they have the best collection of holiday picture resources including a link to a video on how to photography lights on houses. Here is the Link
- Strobist.com has a great tutorial on taking Holiday Lights. Check it out here
- The Digital Photography School is another of my favorite resources for Digital Photography help and inspiration. Check out their 16 Digital Photography Tips for Christmas here
- From BetterPhoto.com “How to Photograph Christmas Lights and Other Holiday Events” . Here is their link
I also think that Black and White Pictures can be effective too. It is so nostalgic - reminds me of my favorite holiday movie - It’s a Wonderful Life. What do you think? (Nikon D70s, ISO 640, 50mm 1.8 lens shot at 50mm, 1/30sec)

Scott is right - you do get really creamy black and white photos. I almost like it better in black and white. Bob likes It’s a Wonderful Life too - Hopefully we’ll be able to relax and watch it over the Holidays!
Laurel ,
I’m drawn to the color rendering. I think it is what I expect, a cheerful holiday image.
I also like the vignetting to draw focus to the bear. If you hand held the camera, you did a great job of keeping steady.
Enjoy and Happy Christmas
It IS a wonderful life – and that’s a gorgeous, gorgeous photo too!
Thanks for linking to Photojojo… we love to spread the photo cheer!
